John Batchan was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. While he showed an interest in the performing arts at a young age, it wasn't until he was 15 years old (after being cut from the basketball team tryouts) that he'd audition for his first musical. After performing in the Ensemble of Guys & Dolls at Westview High School, John was bit by the theatre bug and began to perform around the valley of Arizona. |
After attending Phoenix college for 2 years, John decided to continue his musical theatre studies at Arizona State University where he received a Bachelor's of Music in Music Theatre performance, Spring 2018. During his time at Arizona State University he was a part of many productions and special performances such as Passing Strange (iTheatre Collaborative), Grey Gardens, The Drowsy Chaperone, Legally Blonde (Arizona State University) In The Heights, The Scottsboro Boys, and Newsies (Phoenix Theatre). John was also a soloist for ASU’s Capital Campaign event at Chase Field Ballpark Arena and had the honor of performing as a backup vocalist for Kristin Chenoweth’s concert at the
Phoenix Symphony Hall. |
While John continues to strive for professional work in music theatre, he does not stray away from other performing art opportunities. His dance background has landed him several dance performances around the valley for Drag Queen pageants, Music Videos, and Concerts. He created ASU’s newest dance club, “MT Dance Prep”, where he served as the President and taught his peers an array of dance styles through music theatre. Additionally, his efforts staying within the loop of the film community has allowed him to receive several roles on film.
